Silver Beaded Metal Chatelaine Purse
Between 1920 -1930
Metal beads form a silver spiral on the front of this round chatelaine purse. Loops of silver beads dangle below the evening bag. Roses line the purse’s curved metal frame, which fastens in a kiss clasp with metal spheres. The purse hangs by a chain from a chatelaine, or metal clip that can be hooked to a belt, thereby freeing the wearer from carrying the bag. The chatelaine is made of German silver and embellished with a floral motif. The purse’s interior is suede.
