Ira Blount · late 20th-early 21st Century
This small egg basket is made with reeds and wood splints of roughly uniform size, shape, and color. The plain weave, also known as a tabby weave, highlights the basket’s simplicity and intricacy; the materials and weave create a repetitive pattern remarkable in its symmetrical balance. A God’s Eye design connects the rim and handle.
