Egg Basket with Handle

This egg basket uses a combination of natural-colored wood splints and round reeds to create a plain weave with subtle patterning. Artist Ira Blount creates a U-shaped design around the God’s Eye design by substituting three thin round reeds for one wood splint in the weave. The wood handle is covered by a plain weave with a reed weft.
