Inscription above figure reads: "Hito wa matsu (hodo) tsu-ra-ki mono wa araji tsuyu bakari u ki no (?) no wa araji." Translation: "Waiting for somebody is the utterly unbearable thing; and the morning dew makes one most miserable."
