Fares A. Ferzan, of Mount Lebanon, Syria, was a shopkeeper in Atlantic City who traveled to several expositions in the 1880s where he demonstrated fine silk weaving techniques. He sold a coat to the Smithsonian Institution in 1887 (see MNH-4070 and MNH-4070 and MNH-4071).
