Fares A. Ferzan, of Mount Lebanon, Syria, was a shopkeeper in Atlantic City who traveled to several expositions in the 1880s where he demonstrated fine silk weaving techniques. He sold a coat (E94012-0) to the Smithsonian Institution, modeled here, in 1887.
