The fancifully decorated horse-drawn wagon is marked "Rural Route No. 3, Osseo, Minn[esota]." Rural free delivery carriers did not more than just transport mail. This unidentified carrier would have offered a functioning post office on wheels to customers. The carrier would have brought along stamps and stamped envelopes, money orders and other postal products for sale along the route.
