2c Honolulu Harbor artist sketch

This is a preliminary indicium drawing on paper with the size 6 envelope blocked in as reference. The faint notation below the indicium design says "may be lengthened to 2 in." As it stands, the drawing was 1 13/16 inches wide by about 1 1/8 inches high. The artist had already incorporated "2 Keneta -- 2 Cents" and "Honolulu -- Hawaii" into the frame as instructed in "Notes to the Artist" [1984.0372.89]. The date "1883" has been included below the crown. This date would be 1884 in the final production.
