1863
Mint, issued imperforate. Line engraved on steel by John Archer, transferred to a copper plate, and printed by Archer & Daly, Richmond, Virginia. Earliest use recorded is April 23, 1863. The central design is a bust of Jefferson Davis facing to the right. The representation of value is "TEN CENTS" and not the usual numeric "10 CENTS," thus called "T-E-N" by collectors.
