The diary contains entries detailing cases that Postal Inspector Thomas Willis Jones, Sr. worked from March to December of 1896 around Atlanta, Georgia. Of the 192 pages of the logbook, 120 were used. After his entries end, there is a remembrance of Thomas Willis Jones, Sr. (1860-1898) written by the inspector’s daughter. The logbook was used in conjunction with the travel commission, object number 2020.2014.1, which as a form of identification that enabled the postal inspector travel on any postal contracted conveyance while on duty.
