This print has vignette portraits of the first eight postmasters general appointed by the US president. Pictured are from the top and left to right: Samuel Osgood, Timothy Pickering, Joseph Habersham, Gideon Granger, Return J. Meigs, Jr., John McLean, William T. Barry, and Amos Kendall. At the bottom is marked, "Eng'd by A. H. Ritchie", the engraver Alexander Hay Ritchie (1822-1895). A version of this appears in the 1855 book Ten Years Among the Mailbags by J. Holbrook.
