One stationery sheet handwritten on both sides to Hon. J.S. Morrill [Justin Smith Morrill, 1810-1898, Vermont politician and a founder of the Republican Party], who in 1863 was serving as US Representative for Vermont's second congressional district. The letter, composed in Montpelier, VT, on February 23, 1863, was from the business people of Montpelier presents their petition to alter the schedule for the route between Montpelier and Danville, Vermont.
