The letter from Clara Buckner Hickman Booth (1857-1936) addressed to Miss Mary Slade referenced Mrs. Shindler's [sic] recipe, which is likely this item of ephemera with the handwritten title, "Oatmeal Drop Cookies Mrs. Schindler." The correspondence from Clara Booth, wife of William J. Booth of Ann Arbor, Michigan, was on personalized stationery (see NPM object #2009.2033.1.131.1) sent to Mary Slade on January 23, 1931. At one time, Clara Booth was a resident of Boone County, Missouri, like Mary Slade. This item was enclosed in the postal ledger used by Mary Slade.
