Owney, American, c. 1888 - 1897 · 1888-1897
Owney received this trade check token for 5-cents off of goods from the Shea & Weaver store in Louisville, Kentucky. There is no additional information to indicate when the token was given to the dog. Trade check tokens were used much as coupons are today, offered by merchants as a lure to increase customers’ purchases.
