Owney received this round token while visiting San Francisco, California on April 12, 1893. The token was designed to resemble a cancellation marking, with the date “Apr 12” and time “3am” noted, as well as a “Rec’d” or received marking, noting undoubtedly the dog’s arrival. Owney was in San Francisco on his way south. On April 21, 1893, he was honored at a dog show in Los Angeles.
