Owney received this identification token while visiting Omaha, Nebraska. The token sports the name of George Anderson, and his position as a clerk in the post office at Omaha. The back of the token is dated 1892. Anderson, a Scottish immigrant, worked as a clerk for several years before transferring over to Omaha’s Free City Delivery service as a letter carrier. Tokens such as these were often attached to keys or luggage in case they were lost.
