Owney, American, c. 1888 - 1897 · 1888-1897
Owney received this token while visiting Cincinnati, Ohio. The item may have been given to the dog by a representative of the ‘Cincinnati Post’ newspaper. There are no additional notations on the token to indicate its original function or when it was given to the dog. Owney could have arrived in town on a number of different railroads. Cincinnati grew from a bustling port city along the Ohio River into an active railroad town, with at least seven different rail lines leading into the city.
