Owney received this token from a Cincinnati, Ohio daily newspaper, The Commercial Gazette, on April 12, 1892. Almost a dozen railway lines ran through Cincinnati during Owney’s lifetime, and the dog visited the city several times. The token was manufactured by James Murdock, Jr.’s stamp cutter company of Cincinnati, located on Longworth Avenue.
