1870-1890
Robert Liebzcher of Dresden, Germany, crafted this model of a two-wheeled Kaiser Deutsche Post, a German mail wagon used in the late nineteenth century. A single horse pulled this style mail wagon. It was used for mail alone when there was little passenger travel along the post roads. German mail vehicles and mailboxes have long sported the distinctive yellow coloring used to designate the nation's postal system.
