Civil War Union patriotic cover
October 7, 1862
This Civil War Union patriotic stattionery has bullseye cancel mark on a three-cent George Washington stamp placed on its side in the lower left corner. The cover was postmarked, “INDIANA[POLIS] / IND / OCT / 7 / 1862,” and was addressed, “Rachel. J. Walters / Starcitty / Ind.” A red and blue printed seal of the United States dominates the left half of the envelope and is surrounded by abbreviations for thirty-four states. This envelope matches to letter 1991.0291.7.
