There is little information that explains when, where, or from whom Owney received this token. The token itself was manufactured by James Murdock Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio. Murdock advertised himself as a “Stamp Cutter, Engraver and Die Sinker.” The token is similar in shape and style to baggage check tokens that Murdock produced. The initials S.E.P. and the number 9 remain a mystery.
