Owney received this hotel key check token from the Holly Springs Hotel in Holly Springs, Mississippi. The token, which would have been used for room key #22, indicates that the hotel was possibly owned by the Illinois Central railroad. That railroad, along with the Kansas, Memphis, and Birmingham, passed through the town of Holly Springs. The hotel was located near at the train tracks, and would have been used by traveling railway mail clerks as well as regular railway employees.
