January 14, 1919
This one-page letter and envelope were sent by serviceman John H. Zimmer to his younger sister Frances while he was at Camp Hospital No. 26 at Saint-Aignan, Loir-et-Cher, France during the last months of World War I. In his letter, dated January 14, 1919, he thanks his sister for a recent letter and explains that he has just received a backlog of mail after a wait of a couple of weeks. He also muses on his love life, urges her to ask people to write to him and expresses hope that he can surprise her by coming home soon.
