This envelope is from one of the Hincks brothers to his father. The November 29, 1864, letter was censored at Charleston. It was then sent out to be exchanged locally between Charleston and Hilton Head. It entered the regular U.S. mail at Old Point Comfort on December 11. The 1861 3-cent stamp carried it to occupied New Orleans.
