June 10, 1879, folded letter from the company Will Hermanos of Havana, Cuba, to Rotterdam, Netherlands. The letter passed through the Havana post office on June 12 and was carried to New York by the New York, Havana, and Mexican Mail Steamship Company steamer "City of New York," where it was placed on another mail steamship to Liverpool, arriving on June 26, 1879. The letter arrived in Rotterdam the next day. The black handstamp POR VAPOR AMERICANO was privately applied by the sending company to indicate desired routing from Cuba by the American steamer. Letter prepaid 5-centavos, the UPU fee to the Netherlands, with an adhesive, which has been removed from upper right corner.
