Benjamin B. Lipsner, American, 1887 - 1971 · 1918

Louis Gertson, a senior Post Office Department pilot, wires Captain Benjamin B. Lipsner in Chicago that pilot Max Miller landed seven miles from here [Lock Haven, Pennsylvania] with a leaking radiator. He also writes that Miller will have it repaired and get away by noon. Miller did not land at his designated area at first but set down about a mile from Danville, Pennsylvania. He took off right away, landing in Lock Haven about 45 minutes later. Gerston was a senior Post Office Department pilot whom Lipsner designated as official observer of the Cleveland portion of the New York to Chicago Path Finder Flights, scheduled to begin September 5, 1918.
