Telegram to Praeger on September 6, 1918
September 6, 1918
Capt. Benjamin B. Lipsner wired Second Assistant Postmaster General Otto Praeger in Washington, D.C., that he expected pilot Max Miller to leave Cleveland, Ohio, at noon, followed by Edward Gardner. Lipsner’s copy of a Western Union telegram expressed optimism for the New York-to-Chicago pathfinder flights, stating how “great the test is for aviators and planes.” He would wire Praeger when the pilots arrived.
