1864
This envelope is from one of the Hincks brothers to his father. The September 3, 1864, letter was probably censored by J.A. Hincks himself, and then it was sent out to be exchanged locally between Charleston and Hilton Head. It entered the regular U.S. mail at Port Royal. The 1861 3-cent stamp carried it to occupied New Orleans.
