Post-war souvenir patriotic cover of Confederate theme, sold in the North as souvenirs to Confederate sympathizers, curious citizens, or envelope collectors. Produced by Charles Magnus, a Union printer who created thousands of patriotic envelope designs. This is the first in a set of thirty called the 'Secesh Chain'. According to the late Civil War patriotic specialist George N. Malpass, it is the only set of portraits of Confederate leaders to appear on either side.
