Joseph H. Spiegelberg, 1914-1970 · 1945
This V-Mail letter sheet was sent by Staff Sergeant Frank L. Zeltmann of the US Army Air Corps 70th Bomb Squadron to his friend Seaman First Class Joseph Spiegelberg at FPO for Navy Construction Battalion 610 (located in the South Pacific, c. 1945). This pre-printed greeting “Happy Birthday” is surrounded by cartoons of dogs in army, marine, and navy uniforms and in engaged in various military activities rendered in a lighthearted manner depicting skiing, relaxing against a tropical palm tree, driving a tank, and idyllic cloud filled skies with an airplane and smooth seas with a battleship.
