This letter describes an attempt of Robert Morris and Mr. [Freeman] Rawdon of Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Edson, to retrieve the package containing the plates for the 5-cent and 10-cent stamps from the office of the assistant treasurer so they could be used to print another order for stamps. While the seals on the package were otherwise correct, the sample sent by the postmaster general was not present. Morris says, "We did not open the package because I construed your letter to mean I should not if your impression was not on it."
