Post Office Free Frank cover
June 30, 1860
This free frank cover is addressed to former Senator and well known political figure William Rives. Rives later served in the congress of the Confederate States. The cover bears a circular, hand stamped "Post Office Business Free" marking in black and a black circular hand stamped "Richmond, Virginia" cancellation, dated June 30, 1860.
