The label of this bottle is marked with the alchemical symbol for powder and <i>EPILEPT NIGR</i>. The jar would have contained black epileptic powder containing dictamnus, (known as dittany, burning bush, and gas plant), and paeonia flowers, valerian root, and deer antlers. The powder was used as an antiepileptic to prevent seizures.
