This square-shaped bottle has a narrow neck for pouring liquids. It is marked <i>TINCT OPII SIMPL</ii>. Tinctures, mixtures of alcohol and herbs were popular forms of administering medications. Numerous opiate tincture recipes could be used to relieve a variety of ailments as antispasmodics, antidiarrhetics, pain relievers, cough suppressants, and as sedatives.
