<i>The Squibb Ancient Pharmacy Catalogue</i> describes this jar and 1991.0664.0708 as coming from the Alsatian region of France. The bottle has four applied handles. The label reads <i>A Scorzon</i> which can refer to Scorzonera also know as viper grass. The root which is black with white flesh is boiled. It was once given to bubonic plague victims and for snake bites.
