Florentine Bottle

17th-18th century

This is a free-blown green glass container with a long neck, a round squat body and an applied curved spout. Florentine bottles were used for the distillation of flower oils. According to Robert J. Forbes in his book, <i>The Short History of the Art of Distillation</i>, page 260, the term Florentine Bottle goes back no further than the mid-19th century.
