This drug jar is marked <i>SEM. SYNAPIS</i>. Sem. Synapis, Synapi or Sinapi are the white or black seeds from the mustard plant. The seeds were used as an appetite stimulant for digestion, and as a laxative. It could also be used as an irritant for blistering and when made into mustard plasters.
