This blown and molded bottle is marked <i>ESS CROCIZ</i>, and would have contained the essence of crocus, obtained by crocus sativus flowers steeping in an alcohol solution. The essence of crocus was used as an aromatic, cordial, narcotic, anti hysteric, and emmenagogue.
