Patent model for Franklin Fairbanks and Luke Spencer, “Improvement in Platform-Scales,” U.S. Patent 195,112 (September 11, 1877). The form was designed for weighing each roll of cloth as it was taken from the loom. The inscription reads “E. & T. FAIRBANKS & CO. / ST. JOHNSBURY / VT.”
