Melting Ladle

This melting ladle was owned by the Copp family of Stonington, Connecticut during the 18th century. The lade has two pouring spouts set perpendicular to one another on the shallow circular bowl and a long, straight handle, rectangular in section, slightly shaped with a rattail hanging loop at its end. The ladle was used to transfer molten metal from its crucible to a mold.
