Surveyor's chain winder consisting of a cylindrical central shaft running through an X-shaped frame with incurved or U-shaped sides forge-welded to the top and bottom crosspieces. Shaft is secured at top with a square washer and ends at bottom in a spear point that can be driven into the ground. One end of top crosspiece has an iron baluster handle; opposite end of bottom crosspiece has a small spike that can also be pushed into the ground to prevent reel from moving. No marks.
