This Easy Grammar of Geography was authored by Reverend J. Goldsmith and published by J. Johnson of Philadelphia in 1807. It is likely “Reverend Goldsmith” was merely a pseudonym for the books real authors and publishers, and “Goldsmith” eventually became a best-selling brand of textbooks for children. The Easy Grammar of Geography was used in schools and included definitions of commonly used geography terms as well as descriptions of states and countries with their geographic features. Each section concluded with a test.
