Goniometer
Pixii, Hippolyte
William Hyde Wollaston (1766-1828), an English chemist, invented the reflecting goniometer in 1809, and described it in the <i>Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London</i>. This example came from the U.S. Military Academy. The “Pixii / Rue du Jardinet No. 2 a Paris” inscription indicates that it was made before 1838, when the firm moved to a new location.
