Lincoln, Abraham · 1860-1862
During the mid-19th century, the Kellogg brothers produced a series of prints of the Presidents, which were promoted for use in educational institutions. In this half-length portrait from 1860-1862, Lincoln sits upright in a red-velvet chair next to a stack of books and clutches a document, in his right hand. A green drape and a column provide a background to the portrait. This is similar to other Lincon prints by the Kelloggs family however Lincoln's face is more gaunt in this version.
