Watercolor and charcoal on paper. The work depicts hydraulic cranes unloading cargo from a large ship at the American Base Port at Marseille, France. The hydraulic crane is orange with "AB 5" painted in white. German prisoners are working with the cargo that has been unloaded from the ship, moving boxes into a building at the left. An American soldier in uniform stands guard at right, supervising the prisoners with a rifle resting on his shoulder. Several more cranes line the dock in distance. Signed at bottom left by the artist, "W.J. Aylward, A.E.F. '19"
