Crayon and charcoal drawing on paper of soldiers taking shelter during an air raid at Fere-en-Tardenois in France during World War I. Depicted are soldiers in uniform rushing towards a shelter in a shell-torn building through a door marked "CAVE" ("cellar" in English). The brown roof of the building is badly damaged. Black objects, probably shells, are falling from the sky at top right. An orange fire is burning in the distance behind the buildings. A discarded wagon wheel can be seen in the foreground at right. Signed by the artist at bottom right, "Geo Harding"
