A bill of sale regarding an enslaved woman identified as "Jenny." The document uses a pre-printed form for John Tayloe, with details completed by hand in brown ink, for the sale of Jenny for five shillings to his brother-in-law William Augustine Washington, nephew of George Washington. Tayloe's signature is at bottom right, and witness signature possibly [Wm Holbrenner] is at bottom left. The paper was folded into thirds for filing, and middle third of reverse has document synopsis reading [Bill of Sale / from John Tayloe / to / Wm. A. Washington / for Negroe / Girl by / the name of Jenny - ]. Page has minor foxing and dampstaining and loss at bottom right corner.
