Quilt in eight pointed star design made by an enslaved person in Georgia

A lightweight quilt with an eight pointed star design handmade by an enslaved person near Macon, Georgia. Each block is composed of a center square of colored fabric surrounded by triangles in the same fabric pieced together with light colored fabric triangles to form an eight pointed star. A fabric with striped red, brown and white print forms a border around the blocks. The quilt has been tied off with white string at the center and edges of each block as well as along the outside border. There are white fabric strips on the reverse with loops at the edge. The reverse has a white background with a black linear dot pattern. The fabric is stained and discolored with previous repairs.
