He wears a tall bright collar, dark tie, and dark single breast jacket with two buttons on the torso. The photograph is on original plain mount; the mount is cropped to image along bottom edge. On the back of the photograph, written in pencil, from top to bottom, is: [Hiram Revels / 1st African-American / Senator / Mississippi 1870 / Revells].
