An AUDELCO award for Best Musical Production of the Year presented to Melvin Van Peebles. The outside of the plaque is made from a rectangular piece of red-toned wood (possibly cherry) with beveled edges. Mounted on the top of the plaque is a black metal rectangular metal panel with a thing gold metal border that has a metal floral decal at each corner. A gold-tone, circular, relief medallion featuring an image of three faces - one forward facing and two side profiles is adhered to the center top of the plaque. Below the medallion, at the center is engraved gold text that reads [AUDELCO AWARD / FOR / BEST MUSICAL PRODUCTION OF THE YEAR / TO / CHAMPEEEN / BOOK, MUSIC, LYRICS, DIRECTOR / AND / CO - PRODUCER / MELVIN VAN PEEBLES / NOVEMBER 21, 1983[underlined] / WOODIE KING, JR. / PRODUCER, NEW FEDERAL THEATRE / HENRY STREET SETTLEMENT]. At the back of the plaque, are mounting holes at the top and proper right.
